Something Broken in Speakup with spkout

Steve,

One more observation: The file punc_all produces this error

cat: write error: Invalid argument

when either talkwith or speakupconf load attempts to restore it to
speakup. Noine of the other files, including those of 0 length,
produces errors on my system when restored to speakup. But saving them
is quite another story.
