eth0 not recognized:school system

I had this problem when I installed Debian with speakup in the kernel. The 
NForce driver got an invalid MAC address from the card and then assigned a 
random one so every reboot would come up with another eth number for the 
card. Problem went away when I compiled a newer kernel.
