where has git gone?

Ok, first you need to install git. How you do that is distro specific.
Also make sure it includes http support. (it may be called curl support
since I think git uses curl for http stuff) I know on gentoo you get
http support by setting the curl USE flag in any case. Anyway, once you
have it, you clone the speakup repo as follows.

cd /usr/src
git clone http://linux-speakup.org/speakup.git

Now you have a copy of speakup in /usr/src/speakup.
