I still don't know why you want it--that version is years old and has probably got security wholes to rival swis cheese. Mightn't Fedora be more to the point? I'm not sure why it isn't talking: I've never used it, but I can say for sure that you don't want to use periods in the speakup parameters. That's a git-specific change and relatively recent.
