Hi Gena: You cannot pass module options at the kernel command line boot prompt. To do that you must have the module or in this case speakup built-in to the kernel. You can however load it as a module in /etc/modules by placing speakup_xxxx start=1 where you want it in the list of other modules you are loading that way.
