Use sftp. To login to the server (if your username is different then that on local system), type sftp username at hostname, where username and hostname are your username on the remote system and hostname of the remote system respectively. Ip address can also be substituted for hostname. You don't have to tell sftp if you're transfering binary or text files. Your file transfering commands, get put mget mput etc., should all work as you expect. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ned Granic" <ngranic@xxxxxxx> To: "Speakup is a screen review system for Linux." <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Wednesday, September 27, 2006 4:35 PM Subject: ssh file transfering > Hi all, > > What Debian tool other than ftp should I use to transfer securely some files > to web space provided to me by my isp? > Until now I used the windows ftp to manage my web space, but got warning from > my isp to change my password and username immediately due to security > reasons -- ones that prevent me from creating my own web server on my linux > box. > > Many thanks in advance! > Ned > _______________________________________________ > Speakup mailing list > Speakup at braille.uwo.ca > http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup >
