Can't figure out how to use cops to print to a network print server

Hello list,

I'm using slackware 10.2 with a 2.6.13 kernel. I am also using the cups
distribution that came with the slackware.

I also have a Linksys print server called psus4. This is a small box on
a node on my router that serves a printer through a USB interface. The
printer is an HP LaserJet 1200. The system works fine in Windows and any
machine on the network can print to the printer.

I can't figure out how to tell cups to properly send data to this network
printer.

It appears the little box supports the IPP, AppleTalk and Netbeos
protocols.

I have no problem telling cups the IP address of the print server.
The question is what protocol to use.

I tried using the IPP protocol but the web interface changed
it to http (which the box doesn't support). If I print a test page, I get
multiple copies of this page (which looks as expected); and the server box
appears to be choked or hung (you cannot access its web interface), and
must be reset.

Can someone here help me? Thank you very much.

Mike Keithley
