keystrokes: to speak or not to speak

On this subject, I would just like to say that using my new BrailleNote MPower as a keyboard causes Speakup to speak every letter typed regardless of key echo setting. I think this is because, to speakup, the characters are just appearing on the screen as opposed to being "typed."
