MailScanner supports a number of AV programs, and also manages the
configuration of them for you. It also is excellent in stopping spam.
MailScanner does require a little configuration, but the documentation
on how-to do it is great.
I have been using MailScanner for about 3 years now, and have no
problems with.

I recommend you get MailScanner installed.
Once you have it installed, you can look at the list of AV programs it
supports.
(Both commercial and open source)

I am current running clamav f-prot and bitdefendor. (all open source)

Before you ask why use more then one AV program to scan mail, there is a
lot of good information on reputable security sites that suggest this is
the best approach to prevention.

Lastly, I recommend you use the installer that has been developed for
clamav and spam assassin to install these programs because it has been
developed to configure the 2 programs for you for the best performance
with MailScanner.
