With verizon.net at least and I suspect other dsl providers usually most internet access is available with dhcp alone. However if I neglect to run pon dsl-provider and log into verizon.net html access isn't available. So was the fc6 install try done using only ftp or was it done with some form of web browser? If wget was used by something somewhere in the process that may have been why the download didn't work.
