I've got a friend who is trying to install speakup under Ubuntu 6.10 using a 2.6.17 kernel, but when he tries to start it, it gives an error that it cannot access the sound card. he's using speechd-up version 0.3-0ubuntu1, speech-dispatcher version 0.6.1-2ubuntu1 and festival version 1.4.3-17.1ubuntu5. What could be going on and how can it be fixed?
