The 1.0.6 version can bring the volume up fine on my speakers but both aplay -q /usr/share/sounds/startup3.wav and play /usr/share/sounds/startup3.wav produce silence. Does an alsa version exist that isn't quite so secure as this one? modprobe snd-ens1371 came back successfully and I even did modprobe soundcore successfully before the ens1371 and still there are sounds of silence.
