hi Jim and others, yes there is, someone made a knoppix cd with speakup kernel, and brltty 3.5. I havn't used it, but if you re interested, i ll look for the url. And another thing, from a normal knoppix-cd you can do a harddisc-install, even with braile support, it has been my way of installing debian. regards Lutz! ----- Original Message ----- From: "jim grimsby" <jimgrims@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: "'Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.'" <speakup at braille.uwo.ca> Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 11:32 PM Subject: RE: Installing linux using speakup? this oralux is crap. it some times works its based off nopics I would not go as far to say crap it is a good idea. It does have a long way to go but it is a good idea. It might be some day soon using this os you can put a cd in your drive turn on your computer and start with no install. As I said it does have a long way to go but it is a good idea and if you are looking for a easy way to use linix and do not have another system to test it on and still want to keep windows it is a grate alternative. That brings up the next question in the list. Is there another cd based speech enabled distro out there? Thanks. _______________________________________________ Speakup mailing list Speakup at braille.uwo.ca http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup
