Can you print other stuff from the console with something like CUPS? If so, it should be set up to print images as well, depending on what filters are installed. I know that I can print PDF files, for example with CUPS. The best thing to do is try printing the image with a normal "lpr" command and have somebody let you know if it comes out right. at worst, it won't work.
