My personal site doesn't need redundant backups and all that mess, so it works for me. The best part IMHO about doing it yourself is there aren't any fsck'ing adds! You can set up a free dynamic host name with dyndns.org or a company like that for free and forward the right ports through your router if you have one and you're set.
