This is to the person asking about new sound cards. Sorry, I lost your
original post, and I can't remember what your name is, although I
believe it's Chris.

If the major issue with your old soundblaster card is the crummy midi
it produces, try timidity:

http://www.goice.co.jp/member/mo/timidity/

It converts the midi files to wav, and plays it as a wav file through
your sound card, thus never using your card's midi playback.
