I looked at the site a little without much enlightenment as to what is under the hood of this package, but I didn't try all that hard. Regardless of how it works behind the scenes though you are going to have to modify the kernel of the boot disk and then rebuild the disk to get speakup working. If the issue is standardization on this particular system for wiping hard drives will the people who say you *must* use dban permit you to use a modified version of it. If they will let you modify the source and recompile then they might as well allow you to use other tools to do the same job, so I think your going to need to check with the powers that be to see if any modification would be a violation or exactly what is going on. - -- "Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
