Just installed Debian

Hi,

If using a text mode interface, I like using VI as the editor, Mutt as
the MUA, TRN as the newsreader, and Lynx as the browser. This
information may be somewhat outdated, however, as I last used a text
interface proper back in 2000.

Thanks.
Andrew.

Hi.

To use speakup in Debian with a 2.6 kernel, you will need to build the
kernel yourself. There aren't any official Debian 2.6 kernel packages
with speakup.

I usually install with the 2.4 speakup kernel and build my 2.6
kernel as soon as the install finishes.

Hope this helps.

the
Debian install disks to get the majority of packages, and update when I
have got
things a little better? I have a very slow net connection and thus
updating the
packages via the net is not feasible until June when I get a faster
connection.
