I don't know about sound editing specifically but there are a ton of text
based programs for audio on www.linux-sound.org.

Subject: sound editing from the console?

Just a quick question:
are there any sound editing programs that work in the text console,
particularly slackware packages?
I found several that require x and while I know most everything that is
done in the gui can be done via a console, I haven't found what I'm
looking for in any of the instructional materials I've been reading...
Thanks all
Cheereo!
