One thing that still bugs me... bzip2, and gzip, are supposed to work on the full file. However, tar does not seem to be using them that way. How exactly is it achieving compression using these schemes, when it starts compressing, long before it finishes compiling the archive? At least, that is what it seems to be doing. Luke
