Gladly: Not knowing about rcink's capabilities, the only program I'd seen which can update parts of a file is cvs. Only knowing that I assumed to perform a backup from one system to another, you'd have to setup one system as the cvs server, the other as the client. That's how I came to that conclusion Of course it isn't really that usable because you can't files with . in them. And it would take a lot of configuring.
