Yes, an installation with software speech is certainly unlikely. Unfortunately, the current Speakup Modified can't install via telnet, either. We've filed the bug, but it isn't yet fixed. I see two concerns here: 1.) What's the shortest path to a working system in the particular instance? 2.) What's the correct long-term solution? The answer to #1 may be "use sighted assistance." Clearly, we have better answers for #2, but they will take longer.
