Hi Doug, I compiled the driver, 3c59x directly into the kernel. Doing a modprobe 3c59x returned, as I expected, a module not found error. In addition, running ifconfig eth0 as root tells me that the ethernet interface could not be open. Is this kernel bad for Dell laptops? *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 5/19/2004 at 9:33 PM Doug Sutherland wrote: >> network support seems to have died > > I enabled it along with my specific network card in config > >Which network card/driver? >Did you make it a module or compile it statically? >If module, try modprobe the module name for example modprobe rtl8139 >Try lsmod to see if the module is loaded >Try ifconfig eth0 >Does ifconfig show an eth0 device? > > -- Doug > > > >_______________________________________________ >Speakup mailing list >Speakup at braille.uwo.ca >http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup Stephen Clower, that guy from the south.
