Congratulations, Steve, seems like you got the GPG puzzle
unraveled! This list and many others do not permit attachments to
postings, and the preferred method of signing messages attaches
the signature to the submission. Hence it is rejected by the
list. Your solution to use the ascii armor approach is the only
way to submit signed messages to such lists, and there is no
reason not to do so. My system automagically retrieved your
public key successfully.
