hi, I use a removable hd so I don't get any probps from lilo. the first screen that comes up is the login screen. Now is there a way to make speakup start talking at this point? that would be really neet. If you're talking about your pc being at the lilo prompt, you can place a ctrl+g in your boot message file, which will beep your pc speaker when the boot message is displayed, which will let you know that you're at the lilo prompt. If you want to know when you can login, you can place a ctrl+g in your /etc/issue file, which will beep the pc speaker when the welcome message is displayed, letting you know that the system is ready for you to login.
