a hub is dumb. it takes the data and sends it to all hosts. the host 
that needed the data excepts it but all the others don't. that's what 
makes a hub slow. expecially if you have more then 2 clients.
a switch is smart. it knows where the data is supposted to go.
that increases performance by a lot.
