I thought from your earlier post you wanted to use IMAP to process
your mail and leave it on the server.  Perhaps I miss understood you.
If you just want to retrieve your mail off your ISP and spool it on
your own box, then use fetchmail and simply let mutt use default
values and read mail on your spool on your own box.  Exim will happily
send mail out for you including smart hosting if necessary to your
ISP.
