The Linux movie player, mplayer, handles a lot of different formats, sometimes by handing the task off to other utilities. mp3 format is an example. But has anyone tried and succeeded to get mplayer to handle .rm files or .ram files? I know trplayer works well with those formats, as well as with .ra files, but I am trying to see how many such file types mplayer can handle. My realplayer installation is only a partial one, I have the RP8 libraries installed, but not the RP executable, since trplayer does not require it. My mplayer has all the RP codecs available, but plays only .ra files and not .rm or .ram files. Before asking on the mplayer list, I am curious if anyone here has been able to get mplayer to handle the formats that trplayer/realplayer usually handle.
