using Slackware 10.0 setup with speakup

No, the CVS versions do it also.  I think it is a cursor tracking
issue with hilighted parts of the screen.  If the application (dialog
in this place) were modified to move the cursor when the hilight
moves, it could track better.  An example of how it works properly is
well demonstrated in the make menuconfig script for the kernel
configuration.  In that case, Kirk alters the curses routines in that
script when you patch speakup, you get that fix too.
