Not sure, but what about a pcmcia card that has a cerial port on it? Del has dropped all serial ports on their laptops, and gateway is right behind them. As near as I can tell, pretty much all of the newer macs also do not have that serial support. My main reasoning behind asking theese questions is that the state wants to replace my laptop when I go back to school... They get some sort of deal through del, so that's who they go with.
