Speakup and kernel 2.6.1: Whtere did I go wrong?!

Hi.  This is just a wild guess, but did you check the console frame buffer
as well as the graphic one?  It's under device drivers graphics console
drivers.  Not sure why 2.6 separated the console frame buffer from the
graphics one.
