-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi people, I am confused (for a change?) My cable modem connection works like a charm, so maybe I should leave it alone. But I am confused about my IP address and that of the host to which I am connecting. With the ppp0 interface, I can find both the remote and the local IP addresses, but with the eth0 interface, ifconfig reports only one address, which it calls "inet addr:". Is that me? Or is it my ISP? I have assumed it is my ISP, and have used it as such in my firewall script, which is working great. But then what is my own IP address, the one that used to be called a local IP address with ppp0? I am seeing weird entries in my firewall log with destination addresses matching what ifconfig calls the "inet addr:" and I am not sure if that is my address, or my ISP's? Any advice will be handsomely rewarded. Chuck - -- The Moon is Waning Gibbous (82% of Full) In a world without Fences or Walls no one needs Windows or Gates.
