sound cards

Yes, I had trouble getting an sb16 working with alsa. Basically, it
couldn't find the card. I ended up switching to the kernel oss drivers
with the sb16 module built into the kernel itself, and that works for
me. I had a thread here some time back about this, but I don't
remember what the exact subject line was.

That's my experience, but your mileage may very of course.
