mutt problem

As an update to my original message, I found a message in the Mutt-user
list archives that mentioned how to propplery create Maildirs. From my
home directory, I did maildirmake ./maildir. All the necessary
directories were created inside the main Maildir, however Mutt still
thinks its dealing with mbox-type mailboxes. Despite that set
spoolfile=~/Maildir/ is in the global Muttrc. Should I perhaps try using
an earlier version?
