You need to be careful to get a complete set. You cannot mix one CD ROM from this week with three from two weeks ago, for example. So, if you had a problem with disc 2, and downloaded only disc 2, it's almost certainly going to fail. The iso images that are provided on line are kept very up to date with new RPM releases, so it is important to notice the file size and date of each iso file. You need to make certain to get a complete set that match each other. I don't recall whether you already have a Linux computer, or if this will be your first. But, if you do, you can check the integrity of each file like this: md5sum -c MD5SUM You should check the iso files before burning to media, and you should then check the media before beginning an installation. nick G writes: > Hi ALl. The second disk of Fedora Core 3, according to the media check has errors. To set the record, The MD5 is 430d8bc37d6d2ec8f881dd89bb999909 and I downloaded tis one twice. I don't know the command to check the MD5 of a CD, but this should do. > Thanks, > Nick > _______________________________________________ > Speakup mailing list > Speakup at braille.uwo.ca > http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup -- Janina Sajka, Chair Accessibility Workgroup Free Standards Group (FSG) janina at freestandards.org Phone: +1 202.494.7040 If Linux doesn't solve your computing problem, you need a different problem.
