It might make sense actually. Where are you in relation to your ISP?

For example I'm on Road Runner ok? If I ever go outside of a Road Runner IP
address and try to access smtp-server.nc.rr.com, I can forget about it: they
don't allow it.

That's kind of why I love GMail ... Free Globaly accessible smtp server.

I'm on vacation,doing mail from a different machine, and mail to the speakup
list seems not to be getting through, while it gets through just fine to any
other address I've written to so far. So, I'm logged in via ssh into my
server, to see if I have the same problem sending mail from my home machine.
It will be interesting if I don't, since both my server at home, and the
machine I have on vacation both use my ISP's mail server to send mail.
