I've gotten fedora to install on a dell laptop no problems, and the card was supported. It was a dell enspiron 5150 but other people have had problems. I'd say your best bet is to look at some models you want then go to www.linux-laptop.net And look around -----Original Message----- From: speakup-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:speakup-bounces at braille.uwo.ca] On Behalf Of Igor Gueths Sent: Thursday, April 15, 2004 11:43 AM To: speakup at braille.uwo.ca Subject: OT: Laptops that Linux likes? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all. I am needing to get a laptop pretty soon for college...For now what I am going to need to do unfortunately, is to duel-boot Linux and windblows. And I can't get a Dell laptop bc as far as I know, the Broadcom nics are not supported...Someone correct me if I am incorrect on this? Anyway, does anyone know of any good laptop vendors that maybe will sell you a laptop with no OS? I've seen them on pricewatch but there are not a lot of specs on them. When I think of Linux laptop vendor...Pogolinux comes to mind. However when I looked on their website there was no mention of laptops...Maybe this has perhaps changed? - -- Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with your Microsoft product. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAfq1uNohoaf1zXJMRAhexAJ940+mFNC0P+m/kJqIOP5qAQWi5IACcDYs4 2MAZ6jYujvwgAm53Qu4qW+4= =96vY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Speakup mailing list Speakup at braille.uwo.ca http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup
