Hi Reg: I am not sure what to recommend. It depends somewhat on which flavour of debian you are using woody, sarge or sid. Mailman installs slightly differently between woody and sid. In sid you need to have a mailman mailing list where you don't in earlier versions I don't think. In woody there is a flag you can give the newlist command to add the alias stuff directly to the /etc/aliases file. In sid you have to add the information by hand, that's where the speakup cut and paste feature comes in handy. You should not have to do anything to exim if you are going to use the /etc/aliases method of setting up a mailing list. So check those things and offer more info if that doesn't help.
