Hi: I've only just stopped using my SB16 card, because I needed the extra functionality of an SBLive. When you say it worked with an older version of ALSA, how old? Some of the options changed name a few versions back. If you post a copy of your modules.conf and a copy of the errors, I should be able to sort it out for you.
