As far as I know, few if any of us use Suse. So, you may be on your own as far as the particulars of that distribution are concerned. You seem to have maade up your mind, and that's certainly OK. However, I want to quote you the advice we give in our installation HOWTO on this subject: Clearly, all users can choose among several Linux distributions, and we note and applaud the Slackware team for including Speakup in their stock distribution since version 8.0. Which particular distribution one should choose is really a matter of personal choice. Our only advice is that users unfamiliar with Linux should choose a distribution for which they can most easily get help when they have questions. In other words, it's harder for the user of Red Hat to help someone using Debian or Slackware. This is an important point because beginning users will most certainly have questions--many questions. The complete HOWTO, now a bit out of date but still useful, is at: http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/redhat/HOWTO_INSTALL.html Barry Murdoch writes: > From: Barry Murdoch <compuvision at shaw.ca> > > Hello, > > I am new on the list and wonder if Speakup is compatible with SuSE pro 7.3? > I have not used Linux or Speakup yet, but am almost ready to take the > plunge. > > Thanks in advance, > Barry > > > _______________________________________________ > Speakup mailing list > Speakup at braille.uwo.ca > http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup -- Janina Sajka, Director Technology Research and Development Governmental Relations Group American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) Email: janina at afb.net Phone: (202) 408-8175
