Why not GSM, the default mode? GSM sounds 100 times better than simple compression and compresses down to a level that it works over a 28.8K dial-up line. Celp is only in the very latest Unix version of Speak Freely and a beta for Windows. It takes a very fast CPU to compress. GSM has been supported for a long time, so stick with it.
