jupiter speech in linux

I've tried jupiter. It's an interesting package and I'll get some sighted
assistance with it in a couple weeks if all goes as planned. I managed to
get it working on an acer with 16mb of ram with a doubletalk lt
synthesizer but couldn't get it to work on the dell with 128mb of ram.
Same disks, and same synthesizer in both cases and same kind of serial
port too. You're best results will be with the doubletalk line of
synthesizers the dectalk line is problematical since the author probably
didn't manage to get the full technical specs for that line of
synthesizers. On the acer I found a different paradigm for screen reader
which used minimal amount of keys but for the time I had used it it was
responsive. It's intended that users of jupiter roll their own keyboard
maps for the synthesizer and extensive information is made available in
the manual to do that though.
