Nope everything sounds ok. I have a maxtor 240mb disk here that's about 11 years old. and that doesnt seem like it's the odd one that lasted long bc there are a few more where that came from and they still work fine. one of the disks in this box is a 1005mb maxtor and it's also seeming like a good drive.
