Just a heads up, In my experiance, festival will not compile on some linux distros, my slackware 9 for example. Flite however works great, just takes a loooong time to compile and install.. then again I am using a p1 200mhz.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone on this list could assist me in picking
the right synth for redhat 9. I have downloaded and am planning on
installing redhat 9, and need a software solution for now, until I can
get some problems fixed in securing a dectalk express. I read the post
on Aug. 23 and it was recommended to get YASR with flite and eflite, if
I am not mistaken. I would appreciate to know which synth can support
16k voices and exactly what packages I need to get, as I am new to linux
and the reason for me installing redhat 9 is so that I can familiarize
myself with the operating system. I have heard of festival and was
wondering if I need to look into that, or is eflite a substitute for
festival?

Thanks again,
Sina
