Have you tried a direct connection to your cable modem yet? If that didn't work, are you sure DHCP is installed? Try this as root. "dhcpcd eth0." What happens? Any errors? I am almost sure that either your router isn't cooperating with this computer for whatever reason, or you are missing something like dhcpcd. How did you install Slackware? Did you use the full install or a prompted install?
