8.0 problems.

I can see arguments going both ways on this one.  The kernels with the
second of the 4 numbers odd are development kernels and are not considered
stable.  You use it you bet the farm.  On the other hand, if the console
writing changes are going to stay around to get into say something like
2.6 or 3.0 it's best to have done the rewrite in preparation for the
stable kernel versions to come.
