Oops! Kirk, I forgot to cut the bottom from this one, please throw the
to long message away.

Hi Igor. I'm using a cs4236b chip in one of my Dell machines. I
haven't tried that one with Alsa0.9rc3. If you can't get it to work,
you may have to drop back to Alsa0.5.12b, which I know does work,
because that's what I'm using for that particular chip. I tried using
0.9beta12 with it, and couldn't get the mike to be captured properly.
So if you can't get it to work with rc3, just drop back to 5.12b. The
cs4236 chip is a very nice chip by the way. It allows you to capture
your master volume, and mix the mic and other sources into a recording,
or to play other sound files on the reflecter. I find it to be very
useful.

Now, if you were considering a new sound card, I'd recommend the sblive
card, which I bought about a year ago for thirty bucks. This one does
work with rc3, and I'm using it that way at home.
