Thanks, Janina and buddy and all. question: in order to connect my laptop to my desktop to transfer files, etc., will I need to put a second ethernet card in my desktop? Of course, I realize that once i have linux up and running on the laptop I can also use ssh and scp if my laptop is itself somewhere connected to the internet separately from the desktop.
