Are you running the program as root or as another user? I know that when I was running it as another user, it didn't want to share a number of my files even though their permissions were fine. So, I'm still running it as root. It's a good thing that I have no one else here who knows gnu/linux, or I would have a big security whole in my apartment. As it is, I hope that no one from the outside world is able to crash and exploit the program to gain access to the console on which it runs. If it could be exploited, then I guess I'm screwed.
