speed of kernel

As a note relating to the discussion of rh6 vs rh7, evidently Intel is
developing a new compiler that blows away the gcc compiler for speed of
compiled programs. They found a huge increase in speed in the vast
majority of kernels they compiled. The compiler isn't open source, but
nothing prevents people from using it for compiling open source projects.
